PUBLIC LECTURE ON INTERNATIONALIZATION AND GLOBALIZATION: EDUCATION, RESEARCH, DIPLOMACY, AND INTELLIGENCE

President of the University of Rhode Island, USA

President Dooley of the University of Rhode Island (URI) is visiting Ghana to support the university’s activities under USAID/Ghana-sponsored projects and to expand collaborative relationships with universities in Ghana. During his stay, President Dooley will sign a memorandum of understanding between URI’s Coastal Resources Center (CRC) and the University of Cape Coast (UCC) Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences and Center for Coastal Management. CRC currently leads the USAID/Ghana Sustainable Fisheries Management Project, whose mission includes engagement of faculty, researchers and students at UCC with education, research and outreach opportunities at URI. The USAID/Ghana Mission and other key stakeholders will be in attendance. USAID funds the Fisheries and Coastal Management Capacity Building Support Project at UCC, which advances measures to improve the sustainability of marine fisheries in Ghana. President Dooley also will pursue joint research, educational, and student exchanges between URI and UCC while in Ghana.
